Fatin Al Jumaily displays Blown Derivatives in Karbala, Iraq
photograph by Luke Wilcox of the Iraqi American Reconciliation Project, 2011
Papers that blew out of the World Trade Center during 9/11 were collaged with Blueprints as the basis for this international collaborative project. Blown Derivatives examines conditions and national identities ten years after the WTC events. Participants were invited to create pieces based on the project’s scattering of ashes and destinations. Ephemeral exhibitions were sent to: Antarctica, Iceland, China, Tibet, Iraq, and Pakistan, to hang outside until they disintegrated.
